My ancestors are Irish, not Italian or Persian, but I know that my family's heritage is very important to me. The foods and traditions that are carried over from across the Atlantic are what make me uniquely me. There are little things handed down from generation to generation that I don't think we even know are uniquely Irish, sayings, habits, ways of doing things that I think I take for granted, that I don't realize are the way it was done and is still done back in Ireland. And it comforts me knowing that I have that connection with my ancestors and that those ways are a part of me and who I am.
