LOVING THE SKIN YOU'RE IN

I'm eight months pregnant. I walk with the grace and agility of a penguin, I've installed a revolving door in the bathroom, and my once petite frame has now stretched beyond what should be humanly possible. So why do I love my body so much?
&
Don't worry, I'm not one of those experts about to suggest that you stand naked in front of your mirror and tell yourself that you're beautiful until somehow you believe it. I know the best I've been able to muster during that exercise is "Eh, I suppose it could be worse."
&
As humans we reach adulthood and though we continue to grow emotionally and intellectually, we are increasingly forced to face our own mortality. If we can strike a balance between wanting to look our best and accepting the natural progression of life, we can achieve the difficult task of rising above our society's obsession with youth and perfection.
&
I'll describe this as an acceptance that has evolved into a deep pride in everything my body has survived and accomplished. I am but a handful of cells that joined forces to create a wondrous being, capable of running marathons, swimming across oceans, climbing mountains, and supporting a new life within me. The stretch marks, scars, and laugh lines are a testament to my journey.

In this profound experience we are all connected, especially when it comes to motherhood. So why not give our amazing bodies the respect they deserve and love the skin we're in?

- So true ... one of the things I've discovered over the years is that it's impossible to love anyone else until we love ourselves, which isn't always as easy as it sounds. But it's always worth it!!! :)
